Cake Poker will make you hungry and satisfied at the same time. Although the big chocolate cake in the corner of the screen is a lure, you’ll have the opportunity to play some great poker here. Cake is complete with a wide selection of games and tournaments, both for Real Money players and Play Money players. We were also extremely impressed with Cakes sign up bonus and additional promotions.
The one thing we noticed Cake was lacking was some sort of Poker Education. While they do offer a few articles about each of the games they offer, it did little to help us better understand the game of poker. This being said, the many good things Cake offers definitely outweigh the bad. If nothing else, their cool theme and easy-to-use program is a lure for any poker addict.
Even if you break even on the tables, Cake is going to make sure you win by matching 110% of your initial deposit up to $600. Existing players are also eligible for a reload bonus, where you’ll get a certain percentage of your money matched depending upon how much you deposit. Obviously this is only for those players who do cash games. If you are only playing with Play Money you are not eligible for these promotions.
In addition to sign up bonuses, Cake also offers a rewards program for loyal customers. Earn Gold Chips every time you participate in a raked hand. All of your chips will eventually add up and can be used to provide access to special tournaments and purchase merchandise and poker paraphernalia at the Cake Shop. You can also earn up to $100 for every friend you help sign up at Cake Poker. More ways to get paid to play.
You’ll have plenty of opportunities to “Get a piece of the action” with Cake Poker. They offer many of the poker games we expect to see from a good Online Poker outlet. From the main interface you’ll be able to choose from Texas Hold’em, Omaha, Omaha Hi/Lo, 7 Card Stud and 7 Card Stud Hi/Lo. You can play all of these games with Real Money or Play Money in two formats: Ring Games and Tournaments.
Play Money is a great way for newbie poker players to learn the ropes. Bet on draws, slow play pocket rockets or go all in when you’re sure you have the nuts; Play Money is the best way to learn without losing money. However, if you have developed poker skills and would like to put them to the test we recommend Real Money games. Cake Poker offers everything from micro-stake games to high stake games.
Cake Poker’s education section is extremely sparse. While they do offer articles explaining each of the card games they offer, there were no helpful tips on how to become a better poker player or hand explanations. We really would have liked to see a more in-depth section here, possibly with some videos, tutorials or diagrams. However, we did like that they broke down the rake according to blind sizes.
We found Cake Poker to be relatively easy program to use with a fun, almost appetizing interface. The software’s dashboard is broken down into a few sections. On the top there are two main tabs, one for Ring Games and another for Tournaments. After choosing one of the two you can choose which game you’d like to play and if you want to participate with real money or play money.
The only part we found to be less than perfect was how Cake Poker organized their ongoing games. Instead of separating all the games into High, Medium and Low stake games and then offering the selection of games, they put them all together and you’re left to sift through the list to find a table you’d like to play on.
The tables themselves are set up really well. The games run quick and appear to very fair. While on the tables you can visit the lobby, see the table’s stats, view the last hand and chat with fellow players at your table. They do not, however, have a direct link to the cashier cage.
We were really impressed with the customer support Cake offered. At any hour of the day we could email in and get a prompt response to almost any inquiry. Cake also provides a solid FAQ section stock full of helpful answers to common questions. We suggest utilizing the FAQ section before emailing a support rep because emails have the nasty tendency of getting lost. If your email is not returned, chances are it was never found, try shooting off another.
The only thing Cake did not have was a phone number. We usually like it when services have a number you can use to get a hold of a customer support rep.
Cake Poker is very easy to use program with an incredibly fun theme. Our entire experience with this program went really well. Our only beef with Cake is that it has a very weak poker education system. On the other hand, it has a great customer support system. We also really liked all of the promotions they offer and feel it really adds to the poker experience. All around, we were fairly pleased with Cake.
