Great customer support, a solid collection of features, a vast array of games and stellar poker education are just a few of the things you can expect from our “TopTenREVIEWS Silver Award” winner, PokerStars.
Customer Support and Poker Education seem to be where PokerStars excels. They offer 24/7 support via email and a great FAQ section for those questions that don’t merit an email conversation. In regards to your poker education, PokerStars has set you up with a number of articles which will explain the basics of poker and hone your skills if you’ve been playing for a while. We also loved the long list of games available through PokerStars. Seriously, if you get bored on that site, there is no hope for you.
One thing we didn’t love about PokerStars was the graphics. They’re a little outdated and dull in comparison to our top rated products. We would have also liked to have seen better promotions and a bigger sign up bonus.
PokerStars has a great compilation of features, all of which are geared toward making your experience on the tables better. Our favorite feature available with PokerStars is the VIP Club they have. All PokerStars players who play with real money are automatically admitted into the club. You’ll begin earning points immediately after you place your first bet. The high the stakes at which you play, the more points you’ll earn. Points can be turned into the PokerStars store for PokerStars merchandise and poker paraphernalia.
PokerStars also offers a sign up bonus; however, the bonus is substantially lower than our top rated product, Full Tilt. At PokerStars they’ll match 100% of your initial deposit up to $50. While this is a great gesture, we would have liked to see the bonus offer a little bit more.
PokerStars is equipped with a long list of games, all of which will meet the needs of the most hooked poker addict. Immediately after signing into your PokerStars account you are met by the base interface which offers Texas Hold’em, Omaha, Stud, Draw, Razz and Badugi.
After you’ve decided which game you’d like to play, you’ll have the option of choosing Real Money or Play Money. The real money games are much more intense, frequented mostly by experience poker players. However, the play money games are less intense and a good place for experienced and novice players to practice in a risk-free environment. Along those lines, PokerStars also offers everything from high stakes poker—which can be blinds upward of $300—to micro stakes—generally between $.01 and $.10.
After you’ve tried your hand at PokerStars’ cash game tables, you might want to consider playing in a tournament. Most of the games listed above are available to play in a tournament. These too are offered in Real Money and Play Money. The nice thing about tourneys is that you have one buy-in so you’re not putting up a few hundred dollars every time you go to play. If the buy-in is only $50 then you don’t run the risk of losing your whole bank role.
It is very possible to simply be a natural at poker, and after only a few instructions wipe the table clean. However, for those us who are mere mortals, we rely on articles and additional tips to build up our poker knowledgebase. Luckily, PokerStars seems to understand this concept and has implemented a number of features designed to help their patrons better understand the game of poker.
You’ll be able to read up on various poker strategies, poker rules, poker hands and all the poker games available through PokerStars on their Website. All of the information available will help everyone from the veteran poker player to the newbie who saw it on TV and thought it looked fun. All players can benefit through further poker education.
